SEHBC at OUBC Trial VIIIs
We are delighted to report that 6 SEHBC athletes took part in the Oxford University Trial VIIIs for the 2023/24 season! This day of racing represents an important part of the preparation and selection for both the openweight and lightweight boat races in March, with this being the first year that all university rowers row under the same OUBC name.
In the women’s ‘A’ race, Tara Sallaba was in the ‘Remus’ crew that narrowly lost by a length and a half. In the women’s ‘B’ race, Verity Black coxed the winning ‘Eclipse’ boat, stroked by Erika Dutton, to a 5 length win over ‘Lunar’, containing Katie Wellstead.
In the men’s ‘B’ race, Adam Pattenden and the ‘Quiet’ crew came back from almost a length down to take the victory over ‘Peace’, containing Toby Whitehead, by a length and a half.
SEHBC is incredibly proud to see these athletes race at such a high level, particularly considering half of them learnt to row with us in Oxford! We wish them the best of luck with the rest of the Boat Race season and can’t wait to see them back in maroon and gold for Summer Eights in May.
